A number of grants have recently been awarded to industry groups across the country by the National Association of Realtors to be put toward the Housing Opportunity Program.

HOP is an initiative designed to provide a number of affordable housing opportunities for low-income households across the nation. NAR reportedly awarded more than $60,000 to 19 different state and local Realtors associations to fund this program in their areas.

"Realtors are leaders in creating housing opportunities and these grants further our actions toward making housing affordable for all who are willing and able to become homeowners," said NAR president Moe Veissi.

With these funds, the programs and activities created through HOP will be used to provide financial safety and soundness in communities with struggling housing markets, as well as educate prospective buyers on the the home buying process.

Spreading home buying awareness could benefit a number of prospective buyers and help them make good financial decisions in the future.
