In order to get this process underway, here are a few tips and tricks to become a trusted real estate professional:

Stay in frequent contact
Potential homebuyers and sellers want to work with a real estate agent they trust, but there are many to choose from - and finding that perfect fit can be tough in today's day and age. That is why many people ask friends and family for referrals, or take to the Internet to see what certain professionals have to offer.

When this happens, agents who are taking the right steps online are the ones who get noticed. This means having a strong web profile, including social media sites, and doing whatever it takes to stay in contact with possible leads. Stephen Schweickart, a contributor to Inman News, wrote in an article for the site that it is easier to gain clients' trust using videos.

For example, an agent can use video to build an "about me" section on their website or social media account, Schweickart explained. A short clip is better than a written blurb for several reasons. It is more personal, so people are more inclined to connect with the agent. It can also be more versatile and unique, additional positives for professionals.

While staying in contact is a smart way to become a leader in the real estate industry, agents also have to consider several other factors when building trust with past, present and future clients.

Pat Mayfield, of Yahoo HotJobs, wrote in an article for Monster that honesty and consistency are two key traits on the path to trustworthiness. It is incredibly important that professionals tell the truth at all times. Clients will quickly become upset if they feel they are being lied to, and sharing all information - especially if it is negative - is a great way to build trust.

Most importantly, professionals have to be consistent, Mayfield explained. Someone who constantly flips back and forth on their morals, advice and effort will be viewed as a person who isn't committed to the task at hand. This can make a real estate agent's job much harder, so it is best to be a steady, dedicated presence in the industry.
